Hot and Humid Weather Skin Care Tips
Hot and humid weather may be able to save your skin from winter dryness and itchiness, but the moist weather leaves your skin oily and greasy, resulting in acne and blemishes. With the right treatment, you can protect your skin from these problems and keep it soft and supple.
1. Keep Your Face Clean
When the humidity levels are high, your face tends to get greasy. To keep away that oily look, cleanse your skin with an oil-free face wash at least twice a day. Avoid using an oil-based makeup remover.
2. Use Less Make-up
Wearing heavy makeup during hot and humid weather can clog your pores. Opt for a mineral-based powdered foundation instead of cream-based ones. Also, reduce the usage of night creams as they can make your skin oilier.
3. Use Toners
Toners help minimise pore size and close the pores after cleansing. They also soothe and calm irritated skin, keeping it refreshed and balanced.
4. Sun Protection
Opt for aqueous gel or gel-based sunscreens if you don’t want an embarrassing white liquid trickling down with sweat. Always apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun.
5. Nourish and Replenish
Despite the stickiness, your skin can get dehydrated. Use lightweight moisturisers, preferably at night. Look for the term non-comedogenic on the packaging to ensure it won’t clog pores.
6. Refresh and Spray
Face mists can help mattify and soothe irritated skin. Spritz a hydrating mist on your face throughout the day to keep your skin fresh and cool.
7. Get Rid of Body Odour
Bathe twice a day and wear loose cotton fabrics to stay fresh. Use dusting powders on skin folds to avoid odour and friction rashes. You can also apply an aluminium chloride lotion to sweaty areas after consulting your dermatologist.
8. Comfy Footwear
Choose open footwear and avoid wearing socks for long hours to prevent smelly feet. Sun dry your shoes and avoid wearing the same pair daily to maintain hygiene and comfort.
